Waiting to reconnect with your grandchild? What you can do in the meantime

What you need to know: key points for professionals working with (safe) forcibly estranged grandparents
There is relatively little known about the hidden issue of (safe) grandparents being prevented from seeing their grandchildren and their experience of ambiguous loss. For grandparents particularly, there is often shame, humiliation and regret that present as long-term depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation and psychosomatic illnesses.
This 'what you need to know' introductory session provides information on key aspects in working with grandparents in this situation.
It is especially useful for family mediators and lawyers, counsellors and psychotherapists, social prescribers, older people support workers and social workers.
